March Update

Some updates for the new year!

- We have continued research and testing of filtration designs. Several weeks ago we conducted flow rate tests to determine whether or not granular activated carbon was a more effective filtration material than the activated carbon chips we have been using. Upon analyzing our data gathered from the experiment we determined that the carbon chips produced a high flow rate while maintaining similar effectiveness to the granular carbon. We have decided to continue using the carbon chips.

- Currently we are fabricating and installing a grid bubbling system for the holding tank. In order to facilitate higher efficiency and even distribution of ozone into the water we have designed a PVC grid that can be easily detached from the ozone generator to allow for easy access of the holding tank. This will enable easy cleaning and maintenance.

- Finally we have begun to prototype smaller, portable versions of our invention. We are planning on creating  "backpack purifier" which we hope will be able to provide water for up to 50 persons yet be able to be carried and operated by a single person. To do this we are using two smaller diameter filter pods to make the device lighter. More updates on this new filtration product will be posted as we progress. Also, photos of the build process will be posted as well. Stay tuned for more exciting work in 2014!
